Description
This second term is dedicated to the principles of risk management through insurance. The focus will be on the terminology and concepts of major insurance types (automobile, life, health, disability, identity theft, and long-term care). The course is highly active, utilizing engaging strategies like a Gallery Walk, Scavenger Hunt, and Escape Activity to promote dynamic group work and practical problem-solving.
Objectifs
1. To master the core terminology, principles, and applications of six major types of personal insurance.
2. To calculate premium costs, coverage needs, and deductibles using a math-based activity worksheet.
3. To utilize collaborative and active learning techniques (Gallery Walk, Escape Activity) to analyze insurance scenarios and problem-solve.
4. To evaluate and compare different insurance policies to make informed risk management recommendations.
Contrôle des connaissances
• Collaborative Project (50%) : This is a collaborative, research-based task on a specific topic. (Oral component)
• Individual Formal Assessment (50%) : A scenario-based assessment that requires students to identify appropriate insurance types, define critical terminology, and complete an insurance problem set. (Written component)
