This course is the first part of a two-semester sequence providing a foundational understanding of the financial services industry, focusing primarily on banking and investment. The term utilizes teaching strategies that require students to create, collaborate, and write, ensuring an active learning experience centered on real-world application of concepts, terminology, and risk management principles.

1. To trace the historical evolution of banking and analyze modern banking operations and legislation in the US.

• Collaborative Project (50%) : This is a collaborative, research-based task on a specific topic. (oral component)
• Individual Formal Assessment (50%) : Mid-Term Examination. A comprehensive exam covering concepts, terminology, legislation, and fraud scenarios (written component).
